Your account number is made up of 10 digits and is used by banks in Nigeria to identify the bank accounts of different people. No two people have the same bank account number as each number is unique to one bank account.
Remembering your bank account number can sometimes be difficult, and it is easy to mix up the numbers in your head. This can make certain bank transactions difficult and sometimes impossible to complete as you don’t know the number and can’t use it during transactions.
How then do you check for your account number if you can’t remember it?
How do I check my Zenith bank account number?
There are several ways to check your Zenith bank account and some of these ways will be discussed below.
1. You can check your account number using the Zenith bank USSD bank code
The Zenith bank code is *966# and this unique code can be used by Zenith bank account holders to process several transactions like buying airtime/data, transferring money from one bank account to another, or even retrieving their BVN or account number if necessary.
To check for your account number using the Zenith bank USSD code, simply dial the code *966*0# using the phone number that is registered to your bank account(this will be the number that receives your debit and credit alerts and other bank messages). Once you dial the code, simply follow the prompt by choosing the corresponding number to retrieve your bank account number.
Once you follow the prompt correctly your account number will be displayed across your screen and you can easily write it down or screenshot it for future reference.
2. You can check your account number using your Zenith bank chequebook
If the bank account you own with Zenith bank is a current account you’ll be given a cheque book with which you’ll be able to make over-the-counter withdrawals at the bank. On each page of your cheque book, there are several details of your account, these details include the cheque number, the sort code and your account number.
The first set of numbers from the left, at the bottom of each cheque page, is the bank sort code, followed by your account number and the last set of digits is the cheque serial number. You only need the second set of numbers as that is your account number.
3. You can check your account number on the Zenith Mobile banking app or internet banking service
The Zenith banking app is available for use to all Zenith bank account owners and one simply needs to own a smartphone to use it. Once you’re registered on the app and you log in, your account number will be displayed on the dashboard along with your account balance.
If you don’t have the mobile app, you can download it from the Google play store or iOS app store. You just have to follow the prompts and enter the necessary information once you install and launch it on your phone.
You can also check your account number on the Zenith bank internet banking service. To do this, simply log into your internet banking account on the Zenith internet banking website and your account number will be displayed on your dashboard.
4. You can check your account number on any copy of your account statement
Your account statement is a document that clearly shows information about all the withdrawals and deposit transactions made on your account within a period. An account statement is usually sent by the bank to customers’ email addresses at the end of every month or could be requested either at the bank or through the bank’s mobile app.
If you have a copy (softcopy or hardcopy) of your account statement, your bank account details will be shown at the beginning of the document. You only have to pick out which is your account number and write it down somewhere for future use.
5. You can check your account number at the bank through a customer care officer
Another way to check your account number is by speaking to a customer care officer either at the back or through the official Zenith email address or telephone number. You only need to provide a valid means of identification, the account name and BVN, and your account number will be given to you immediately.
