It is the user that is dialing the code that will input the four-digit pin and then proceed to confirm the selection.
Upon dialing the Ecobank code, you will have many service options to select from. In this case, select “create pin”. Below are some important highlights about how the transfer pin work.
- You must be a customer
There is no point talking about the Ecobank transfer pin if you are not a customer of the bank. Only ecobank account holders can use the transfer pin to carry out financial transactions. Those that do not have an Ecobank account need to create the account to be able to make fund transfers since creating the account comes first before creating the pin. Transfer pins are created once but they can be changed and reset to ensure that the account remains secure and untampered by fraudsters. This is important because the approach to creating the pin is not the same for all financial institutions, especially for the codes that users are supposed to dial.
- Phone number should be linked to your account number
Being an Ecobank account owner is not enough for customers to access their accounts for transfers using the pin. Their phone numbers should be linked to the account before they can use this service. If the number originally linked to the account was lost, customers can reapply to have their phone number linked to their bank account once again. It is easy to find out if your phone number is linked to your account number. The easiest way to know is that you’ll receive updates, alerts, and notifications through the number. Numbers can also be changed at the discretion of the customer.
3. Transfer limit
The degree to which customers will be able to make fund transfer vary depending on their account type. Banks often classify customer accounts into tiers each having its maximum transfer limit. The transfer limit does not apply to transfer pin users alone. Transactions that are above the daily transfer limit will not be allowed. In this kind of situation, the customer needs to visit the bank to upgrade their account based on their preferred account tier.
4. Debit card
Your Ecobank debit card details are required when creating your transfer pin. After inputting your bank account number, the last four digits of the numbers on the card are required to process your request. Without an active debit card, you will not be able to create your transfer pin and carry out financial transactions using a pin for mobile transfers.
